Today in class we went over the steps of a good rhetorical analysis. Before writing your analysis the first few steps you start with in chronological order is read and analyze the prompt, identify the rhetorical Situation, read the passage and plan the essay. This entire process should take up to 7-10 minutes. When going into the format, in chronological order we start with an attention getter, introduce the topic and state your thesis. For the body paragraph in chronological order, step 1 you identify the strategy and tell its purpose, step 2 show an example in the text, step 3 explain its effect, step 4 repeat step 1 & 2, step 5 repeat step 3, and for step 6 in the conclusion.

Today in class we discussed how to analyze diction. For the first step you select the word or words, The definition of diction is word choice. Step two is determining the denotation and the connotation of the word. After determining, step three is determine if the connotation is positive, neutral or negative. And step four is discuss how the word creates an effect on the audience.
